Celebrity Jewels; Angelina Jolie

For a good cause….Angelina Jolie has this month started her own line of exclusive luxury jewelry. I say exclusive because these pieces are meant to be super-expensive in order to benefit her charity EPCC that helps children in turbulent places around the world and are only available to a small network of clients. The collection includes rings, bracelets and earrings starting at $575.00. You can find pictures of a few of the pieces. One ring I found was in the shape of a snakes neck and head in black diamonds as well as white diamonds.

Other famous people who dipped into the jewelry design genre include Heidi Klum, Kristian Alfonso and Nelly.

Historical Jewels; Audrey Hepburn

Some of Hepburn’s most memorable and angelic photos are of her in a beautiful Tiara. The popularity of the Tiara skyrocketed simply because of her. However, much to my surprise the most famous tiara she wore in 1960’s hit movie “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” was made up of faux diamonds. For some reason I never imagine Hepburn in anything but the very best. In June of 1996 the accessory sold in a Christie’s auction for $17,825.00. Present day I can walk in to any mall and buy a tiara for as cheap as I can a latte, granted a large latte, but to this day no one can wear one like Hepburn could.

Some other famous tiara owners include Queen Victoria; she has the world’s largest collection. And I have to tell you about a Thailand designer who made his dog a tiara worth $4.2 Million dollars!

Guess what kind of dog it was…..If you said Maltese you would be right.

Christmas Eve Robbery...The Game

The Game…you know the rapper? No not a game, not a video game! The Game. Well to make a long story short he got robbed on Christmas Eve! That happened to me once, when I was destitute nonetheless, but I did not get robbed of an estimated $75,000.00 in jewelry alone. It seems he and a friend had the valet park the vehicle and when the car was returned to him several items were missing. Yeah you I know I always leave $75K worth of jewels in my car too. DUH!

The Game is quoted as saying, “…..Parks ya own shit from now on!” Thank you The Game, as soon as I can afford to go anywhere with valet parking I will remember to hide my gold plated coffee cup.

The Royal Ring! And its counterpart...

I almost peed my pants late last night when I saw a commercial for the official replica of the engagement ring that Kate Middleton is wearing. What a fantastic ring!!! The real ‘Royal Ring’ consists of an oval Ceylon Sapphire which is a whooping 12-carats and is surrounded by 14 round cut Diamonds. The word on the street is that the ring could have been purchased by anyone in the public if they merely had the money to buy it. It wasn’t a unique or one of a kind design and isn’t that just like Diana? A princess for the people! Now it rests on the lovely hand of Ms. Middleton. What a proud but probably intimidating moment for her.

And now we can have it too. Well a replica of it. It boasts an oval faceted faux Ceylon Sapphire equaling 5.65-carats and is surrounded by 8 oval Diamond x4 CZ’s equaling 3.60-carats.

I remember very clearly how popular the ‘Titanic Necklace’ was and I wonder if this ring can match or surpass that pieces popularity.
